The story is heavily allegorical as to what happened between Hanzo and Genji, and also matches the color of their respective dragons. This means that blue dragon=South and green dragon=North. The narrated story is continuing, saying that the dragon of the south wind strikes down his brother, visually showing that the remaining dragon is blue. In the narrated story, we are given “the dragon of the north wind” and “the dragon of the south wind”, where one dragon is green and the other is blue. In the game, Hanzo wields two blue dragons while Genji wields one green dragon. The animated short “Dragons” that expanded on Shimada brothers’ backstory was the starting point.
You might have wondered (and a few anons have too) what I’m going off on when I talk about them. Aka, more info for my Overwatch OC, Shuichi! As mentioned in his biography post, Shuichi is the dragon kami of spring while Hanzo’s and Genji’s dragons are also from the same shrine. I just wanted to do a little background post to explain a bit what is going behind the scenes of my upcoming Dragons of Hanamura posts.
